As long as the job responsibilities and duties match with what you are already performing, it is 100% safe to switch jobs . I had the same issue last year and I spoke with an attorney at Murthy law firm and based on which I started working with the new company. I did inform USCIS and everthing is working well so far.

Guys. Is this 7% country limit a hard or soft one ?. Assuming 1,40,000 total immigrant visas, India would get 7% of it and that is 9800. Then you have the preference category. Assuming there are unused immigrant visas from other countries, how do they get allocated ?. Does anyone has clear idea ?.

I have been working for a non-profit organization and have a H1-B through them. I never applied to the regular commercial H1. I was wondering if I can just transfer this non-profit H1 to a commercial company. Please share your experiences and thoughts.

I am a US Citizen and will be filing a petition (i 130) to bring my mother over on a greencard.
Recently on her visit to the US on a visitor visa she was marked as NO AOS/COS/EOS on her I - 94
and she left by the date specified on her i - 94.
My question is will it have any effect on her GC petition and what is the current wait time for consular processing on an i-130 petition

In my company along with me 4 other folks also affected due to visa bulletin mess. I sent them an email on July 9th 2007 about flower campaign organized by IV to USCIS director. The sad part is no body showed any interest and did not bother to reply. They are also going to benefited by this decision. These people still beleive in Murthy and other lawyer firm updates. I really don't know how to make these folks interested in IV. Any ideas or other personal stories.

Here is my scenario...
1. Applied my first EAD thru some lawyer (hence G-28)
2. I am planning to renew it on "my own"
Can I renew EAD without Attroney help... I know the answer "YES" but the main question is... do I need to inform USCIS saying that I want to withdraw my lawyer's and hence G-28 which was filed along with my first EAD?
If anyone are sucessful, please help me...My question is not on how to self apply EAD..My question is whether we need to inform USCIS about G-28...

USCIS has specifically answered a very similar question in 2004. The answer is "A change of status take effect automatically on the effective date noted in the [approval notice], even if there is an intervening admission...."

My wife received Appt. letter for FP second time. It mentioned that first time FP didn't pass thru FBI check, se she need to come again at no cost. Is this normal and did it happen to any one? We are in Atlanta.

I am planning to get religiously married by end of next year, 2009. But I am considering doing a quick court marriage in the next week since my dates are current. I have a couple questions regarding time frame:
1. If I do get my GC soon, then I need to apply for following-to-join. Is there a time limit for this? Can I do it as late as I want, as long as the spouse doesnt come to US before?
2. If I do not get GC for a while, is there a time frame after marriage before which I have to apply for my spouse's 485 as a dependent? Does she also need to be on H4 and in US before applying for 485?
